Chapatsu (IV)
Japanese are said to be afraid of being different from others. Children are educated to be harmonious with others. This is why teachers dislike chapatsu: every student has to have black hair like anyone else.
Then, is students' chapatsu a rebellion against the Japanese homogeneous society? Unfortunately, it is not. They want to dye their hair brown just because they think it is fashionable. If people around them begin dyeing, they feel like doing it, too. It is not that they want to be different from others. On the contrary, they just want to be the same.
To sum up, teachers want their students not to be different from others, and the students want to be the same as others. Nevertheless, there is a conflict between students and teachers. What is it for?
