◇Seagate SCSI-HDDファームのアップ
●第1章 不具合が発覚との発表あり●
Seagate SCSI-HDDで不具合が発覚したそうです。
不具合内容：
対象HDDにおいてファームが1005までの場合、Adaptec & LSI のU320 H/Aにおいて、
RAID 0/1/5 運用時 U320 packetized modeで、time outからハングアップする事がある。
ファームアップ対象 SCSI HDD
・Cheetah 10K.6: ST3146807; ST373307; ST336607
・Cheetah 15K.3: ST373453; ST336753; ST318453
SeaTools Enterpriseで現在のファームバージョンをチェックします。
ガチョ〜〜ン、なんと2つも該当してました。
ちびのマシンではRAIDは行っていないけど、ファームをアップしておくのが、ベターと思い
今回、SCSI HDDのファームアップをしてみました。
●第2章 Seagateに問い合わせることに。。。●
さぁ、ファームアップをしようーと、SeagateのHPへいったところ、なんとファームのダウンロードを
するには、SeagateへHDDのS/Nを伝えて、ダウンロード先とパスワードを入手する必要がありました。
げげぇ。(DELLやHPへのOEM品はサポート外だって。。。)

から、電子メールでファームのダウンロード先についての問い合わせをする。
最後の欄に次の文章を書いて送信しました。
Please give me a latest firmware for ST336753LW.
My ST336753LW's current firmware version is 0005.
My ST336753LW's Serial Number is xxxxxxxx.
1日・2日後にSeagateより、電子メールの返信がきました。
Hello,
Upgrading Firmware on SCSI disc drives (overview)
A. Download the firmware file from our website (using certificate code)
B. Download and install Seatools Enterprise software from our website.
C. Run Seatools and perform the firmware upgrade.
Instructions for REDEEMING firmware certificate for v0006.
1. Direct your Browser to this site:
http://www.seagate.com/support/certificate.html
2. Enter your certificate number in the field provided
Certificate Number: xxxxxxxxx
This code consists of 12 digits please verify that you are using all 12
3. CLICK ... SUBMIT
4. SAVE the firmware file to your Windows Desktop
Instructions for DOWNLOADING & INSTALLING Seatools
1. Direct your Browser to this site:
http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/index.html
2. SAVE the file to your Windows Desktop.
3. Install SEATOOLS into Windows in the DEFAULT location
C:\Program Files\SeaTools Enterprise
4. EXTRACT the firmware file that you save to your desktop
into the same folder you installed Seatools Enterprise.
This will make it easy to locate when performing the upgrade.
Firmware upgrade instructions
1. LAUNCH Seatools ...
2. WAIT for Seatools to scan for SCSI drives (approximately 30 seconds)
3. CLICK the drop down menu ... VIEW | ADVANCED ...... YES
4. SELECT your Drive.
5. CLICK the drop down menu ... ADVANCED | FIRMWARE
6. SELECT ... the UPGRADE TAB
7. CLICK ... BROWSE and Browse to Folder where you extracted
the firmware file to:
8. CLICK ... UPGRADE NOW
WARNING ... DO NOT power down the server or the drive during this
upgrade process. If drive power is lost during a firmware upgrade,
the drive will be destroyed. Wait until all drive / LED activity
has ceased before powering off the drive.
The upgrade process should not take more than 3 minutes per drive.
●第3章 いざ、ファームアップ！●
さぁ、いよいよファームのダウンロードをします。フゥー、やっとここまでこぎつけた。
ダウンロード先はhttp://www.seagate.com/support/certificate.html
先に返信のあった電子メールに記述されている「certificate number」を入れて
「Submit」をクリックするとファームがダウンロード出来るようになります。
(でも、システムが入ったHDDのファームをアップするなんて、危険そうだなぁ？！)
ファームのアップはSeaTools Enterpriseから行います。
ダウンロードしたファームのファイルをダブル・クリックして解凍し、ファームのパスを
SeaTools Enterpriseへ指定します。
これで「Upgrage Now」をクリックすると自動的にファームのアップが開始されます。
ファームのアップを終了したら、PCを再起動します。
やったーーー、無事終了！
HDDのファーム・アップは自己責任で行いますので、万が一の事を考えてバックアップは
きちんととっておきましょう！
今回、ファームのアップしたHDDはOSが入っているSystem HDDでしたが、
Windows2000上でアップできました。(ホッとしました。。。)
その後特に問題はありません。
